Gastonia Street Ministry
Offering hope
  in a safe place
    without judgment.

Since 1997

We are located at 416 West Main Ave Gastonia NC 28053.

Please send mail to our P.O. Box 853 Gastonia NC 28053.

What is compassion?

Compassion is the desire to alleviate someone else's suffering. Empathy is not required to feel compassion. You don't need to come from the same place or have suffered a similiar tragedy to want to help someone else.

Compassion is what we do at the Gastonia Street Ministry. We are here to alleviate the suffering of others through hope, food, clothing, and other basic necessities.

Do you need assistance?

If you need food or clothing you can stop by the mission anytime that someone is there. Usually that is in the evening after 3:30 until 7:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

We have pantry day on the 4th Monday. We give out the food that has been donated for as long as it lasts. If we get larger donations of food we will post on our Facebook page and offer more throughout the month.

We do not give out money for any reason. We don't have the resources to help with rent or gas.

Do you want to donate?

If you want to drop off food or clothing, stop by in the afternoon between 3:30 and 7:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

If you have a particularly large amount please contact Joan Williams at 704.964.7898 or email: joanwilliams1251973@gmail.com and she will meet you at a pre-arranged time for your convenience.

We do not meet on Wednesdays because so many of our volunteers attend regular church services on Wednesday nights.

How we are funded

We are a faith-based non-profit organization comprised of multiple teams based throughout the local area. These teams come from church groups that commit to a regular day of service every month. These teams contribute in many different ways. They give money, they provide cooked meals, they make blessing bags, they make blankets, they pray, they sing, they preach.

We apply for grants when we can find them. Grants are very specific to a cause and are a one time ask. We do have some grants that we apply for repeatedly. Usually these grants go to help with ongoing repairs to the facility that we need to serve the homeless.

We need everyone to chip in and help out. If you can give $10 a month that would be great. This is a joint effort. You are a part of the we that makes up the Gastonia Street Ministry.
